In December 2022, the first webinars were held, organised by ACIMIT, with the cooperation of ITA – Italian Trade Agency, with the aim of introducing technological issues in the field of sustainability (environmental, social and economic) and innovation.

The initiative targeted important Countries/markets with which ACIMIT and ITA – Italian Trade Agency have developed a strong collaboration over the years, also thanks to the creation of Technological Training Centers (TTCs), hubs equipped with innovative Italian technology. These represent a training reference point for the textile industrial districts, serving university professors and students, entrepreneurs and textile professionals from the Country in which the TTCs are. So, what better occasion than ITMA 2023 to renew the training work for which the Centers were created?

The webinars involve the following Countries, and will be conducted with the support of the relevant training institutes:

• Pakistan – NTU (National Textile University)

• India – DKTE (Textile & Engineering Institute)

• Bangladesh – BUTEX (Bangladesh University of Textiles)

• Peru – University of Lima

At the centre of the debate is the paradigm shift involving the fashion industry: a transformation that brings together the entire sector, from mass market to luxury, from micro enterprises to large multinationals. Digital technologies, social responsibility, low-impact materials, sustainable manufacturing and supply chain management are the competitive drivers of the next decade. The Italian technologies that will be presented at ITMA are ready to meet the new standards demanded by the ever-changing market, and Acimit’s mission is to foster any activity preliminary to the understanding and promotion of these technologies.

The technology webinar series kicked off with Pakistan’s NTU University. In three different moments, Italian industry experts presented and discussed sustainability in the fashion system and the sustainable and innovative technologies that have enabled a real revolution in production processes, in terms of energy and resource savings, and environmental impact.

Among the focus topics of the technology webinars are:

• Sustainability in Fashion, Circular Economy, Digital Innovation

• Sustainable Technologies and Techniques for Reducing the Impact of Denim Finishing Operations

• Technologies and Techniques for Water and Energy Saving in Dyeing and Finishing Processes

• Sustainable and Innovative Technology and Techniques for Weaving Processes

Sustainability, innovation and digitalization are confirmed again as the pillars of textile industry’s transformation. ITMA 2023 promotes them through relevant international cooperation actions with emerging Countries such as the technology webinars.
